More about Maggie's Cakes
More than a Cake, Maggie's Cakes specializes in edible Art!
Maggie Faralla opened Maggie's Cakes in 2000 to create artful wedding cakes that add a spark to one-of-a-kind events. For over 14 years, Maggie built one of the leading wedding cake businesses in New Mexico.
When Maggie passed away from cancer in December 2014, her step-daughter Zara Southard decided to continue Maggie’s legacy and keep the business open.
Zara was meticulously trained by Maggie in the art of baking and fondant as well as receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts in ceramics in 2003.
"Fondant is just clay made out of sugar", Zara says. "I have always been attracted to the utilitarian in art, wanting to bring beauty to function. Ultimately, there is nothing more functional than food. I find great satisfaction in creating something beautiful and stunning and then in a matter on an hour it has been devoured!"
If you want an edible work of art, not just a cake, Maggie's Cakes is the one to call.
