Look through complete wedding galleries, including indoor ceremonies and evening receptions, rather than judging only a few portraits. Notice the editing, skin tones and balance of candid moments and posed photographs. Ask how much direction the photographer gives during the day.
Check the number of photographers, coverage hours, travel and overtime. Discuss delivery timing, gallery access, print rights and whether albums or engagement sessions are included. A detailed shot list should leave room for the moments you cannot plan.
Documentary coverage emphasizes unfolding moments, while more directed approaches make time for posed portraits. Many photographers combine styles. Ask to see a full gallery that reflects the approach you prefer.
