More about K. Stoddard Photography & Fine Art

Adventures, cultures, + the stories written along the way - every journey is worth celebrating.
Kaitlyn got her first camera for Christmas when she was 8 years old, but based on that home video you would have thought she won the lottery. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree of Professional Studies in both Fine Art/Photography and Fashion Merchandising as well as a minor in Spanish from the University of Memphis. Before dedicating herself to higher education, Kaitlyn traveled internationally working as a professional model allowing her years of experience working with industry creatives. Later, inspired by her Southern background and by her time living in the American Southwest, she created an expansive body of art work with a focus on photography. Today you'll find a little bit of that southern sentimentality and a little bit of that gypsy soul wanderlust characteristic of the desert's vastness in her photos.

Kaitlyn seeks out the most genuine sentiments on your wedding day. She captures them in their authentic form - documenting all those emotions you are feeling in such a way that you can relive them for years to come. She loves the creativity that comes to life when documenting two souls who are now intertwined, and her biggest advice to brides is: "A beautiful wedding lasts one day, but a beautiful marriage lasts a lifetime."

A firm believer in the tangible, the texture of your photos printed on cotton paper, and the kinesthetic process of any artistic medium, Kaitlyn shoots a hybrid of digital and film photography. Her love for film photography began in high school when she spent many afternoons in the darkroom developing a few extra rolls of film than what the assignments required. In a digital world, the tangibility and development process of film is often declared a lost art, but it is just that - an art. Because of the intricacies and subtle variations of each roll of film, each photo is impossible to replicate adding to the overall uniqueness of the story your photos will tell.

When she is not behind the lens, Kaitlyn can be found riding her Desi Horse (who is more like a large lap dog), running with her dog, Grimm (who is more like a "bear-wolf"), or coaching her high school cross country team with her husband and best lighting assistant, Sean. Kaitlyn has found, above all, that no matter where we are in the world, people are much more alike than we may think. It is merely the circumstances that are different. As a wonderful friend said, Kaitlyn's passion is "telling people's stories through pictures." That statement could not be any truer.
